Microbial Drug Resistance

This international, peer-reviewed journal covers the global threat and spread of multidrug-resistant clones of major pathogens that are widely documented in hospitals and the scientific community, the efforts to develop novel therapeutic strategies targeting the drug-resistant bacteria, reinforcing the barrier effect of the microbiome, and host-directed responses. The journal also addresses the serious challenges of trying to decipher the molecular mechanisms of drug resistance, the dissemination of resistance between strains and species, and what we can learn from it to block the process.

Microbial Drug Resistance (MDR) is an international, peer-reviewed journal that covers the global threat and spread of multi-drug resistant clones of major pathogens that are widely documented in hospitals and the scientific community, the efforts to develop novel therapeutic strategies targeting the drug-resistant bacteria, reinforcing the barrier-effect of the microbiome and host directed responses.

The Journal also addresses the serious challenges of trying to decipher the molecular mechanisms of drug resistance, the dissemination of resistance between strains and species, and what we can learn from it to block the process.

MDR provides a multidisciplinary forum for peer-reviewed original and novel publications under four distinct formats:

Original Research Articles that describe in detail novel observations
Short Reports that briefly describe unique and novel observations
Review Articles that highlight the state-of-the-art in a particular field
Opinion Pieces, Commentaries and Perspectives on a particularly timely and impactful topic

Papers that describe only small incremental work will not be considered for peer review and publication.

MDR coverage includes:

Molecular biology of resistance mechanisms
Mechanisms of resistance dissemination and emergence
Molecular epidemiology of resistance
Reservoirs of resistance and antimicrobial genes
Targeting virulence genes and disease mechanisms
Drug design and screening
Novel natural products screens and anti-biotherapy
Novel Therapies
Host directed strategies
Infection control and stewardship

Microbial Drug Resistance is under the editorial leadership of Editor-in-Chief Ivo G. Boneca, PhD, Research Director, DRI, INSERM.

Audience: Molecular biologists, cell biologists, viral immunologists, microbiologists, viral infection pathologists, among others
