Evolutionary Bioinformatics
Effective January 1, 2026, Evolutionary Bioinformatics will transition from a fully Open Access model to a hybrid publishing model. While select articles will continue to be published Open Access, the majority of content will be available through institutional or individual subscriptions.
To continue accessing the full breadth of research published in Evolutionary Bioinformatics, we encourage you to recommend the journal to your institution’s library. You can do so using our Library Recommendation Form, by contacting your librarian directly, or emailing sales@liebertpub.com.
Your support helps ensure that the journal remains a trusted resource for advancing scholarship in bioinformatics.
Journal Highlights
- Indexed in: SCIE, Scopus and PubMed Central (PMC)
- Published since 2005
Evolutionary Bioinformatics is a peer reviewed international journal focusing on evolutionary bioinformatics. The journal aims to support understanding of organismal form and function through use of molecular, genetic, genomic, and proteomic data by giving due consideration to its evolutionary context. Please see the Aims and Scope tab for further information.
This journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Submission Guidelines
Evolutionary Bioinformatics recommends that authors follow the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals formulated by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
Evolutionary Bioinformatics is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Manuscript Submission
Please read the Full Submissions Guidelines (PDF) before submitting your manuscript.
Please note that manuscripts not conforming to these guidelines may be returned. Only manuscripts of sufficient quality that meet the aims and scope of Evolutionary Bioinformatics will be reviewed.
Evolutionary Bioinformatics publishes commentaries, concise reviews, dedications, editorials, images of interest, letters to the editor, meeting reports, methodologies, opinions, original research, perspectives, rapid communications, research proposals, reviews, short commentaries, short reports, software or database reviews and technical advances.
Article Processing Charge
If, after peer review, your manuscript is accepted for publication, a one-time Article Processing Charge (APC)* is payable. This APC covers the cost of publication and ensures that your article will be freely available online in perpetuity under a Creative Commons license.
The APC is $1,848 USD and will be payable upon acceptance.
Copyright
Evolutionary Bioinformatics publishes manuscripts under the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial license (CC BY NC), which allows others to re-use the work without permission as long as the work is properly referenced and the use is non-commercial.
Alternative license arrangements are available, for example, to meet particular funder mandates, made at the author's request.

*The article processing charge (APC) is payable upon acceptance after peer review and is subject to value added tax (VAT) where applicable. If the paying author/institution is based in the European Union, to comply with European law, VAT must be added to the APC. Providing a VAT registration number will allow an institution to avoid paying this tax, except for UK institutions. Payments can be made in GBP or USD.
