  • Submission Guidelines for Paradigm

Paradigm offers an opportunity to publish well-researched and academically rigorous papers. The contributions should be unpublished and original. It should display an understanding of the context, purpose, methodology, and logical cohesion in the derivation of the conclusions.

After receiving manuscripts, the author(s) is acknowledged and a reference number is assigned. Paradigm does not accept manuscripts that are currently under consideration by other journals. The author(s) is asked to submit a copyright declaration form to IMT before papers undergo review. Each manuscript is checked using plagiarism software before sending it to reviewers. All manuscripts are reviewed anonymously by the editorial board and reviewers. First, they undergo a pre-review screening by the editorial body for assessment of relevance and overall quality. The submissions which are found appropriate are then forwarded for blind review by subject experts. Since we follow a systematic and thorough process, the review may take three to four months. The author(s) may be asked to revise and re-submit the manuscript based on referral comment(s). The final acceptance of the paper is subject to satisfactorily addressing the comments of the referees in prescribed form, and resubmitting it by deadline. Request to revise and resubmit is not a guarantee for publication.

After the acceptance of the paper, following necessary corrections as per the referral comments and meeting the requirements of the journal’s style, the final manuscript will be sent for copyediting and proof reading. The author(s) is expected to cooperate in this copy editing and proof reading process.

    Publication Ethics

SAGE is committed to upholding the integrity of the academic record. We encourage authors to refer to the Committee on Publication Ethics’ International Standards for Authors and view the Publication Ethics page on the SAGE Author Gateway

Guidelines for Preparation of the Manuscript for Submission

    1. A softcopy of the manuscript should be submitted in English, with MS Word format and double-spaced with adequate margins on all sides. It should be accompanied by a brief biography of all the authors and sent to editor.paradigm@imt.edu . Every manuscript must include an abstract and four to six keywords.

    2. Authors will be provided with a copyright form once the contribution is accepted for publication. The submission will be considered as final only after the filled-in and signed copyright form is received.

    3. The full length paper should not exceed 8000 words. The abstract of the paper should not be more than 150 words with four to six key words.

    4. Chapter 2 in the APA Publication Manual offers detailed instructions on formatting the manuscript. We request all contributors to be familiar with it.

    5. The manuscript should be accompanied by a cover page comprising title of the article, authors’ name and affiliation, mailing address, phone, fax and email address. In case of multiple authors, the cover page should also indicate the author to whom correspondence should be addressed. This information should be centred in the middle of the title page. The name of the author(s) should not appear anywhere else in the manuscript.

    6. The manuscript should have a margin of 1 inch on all four sides (with the margin on the left side flush at 1 inch, and the right margin “ragged”), and the entire paper should be set to double-space. The first line of each paragraph should be indented one-half inch.

    7. Paradigm requires that all submissions use Times New Roman font, 12 pt.

    8. Use British spellings (rather than American): universal ‘z’ in ‘ize’ and ‘ization’ words.

    9. Endnotes should be used.

    10. Use ‘twentieth century’, ‘1980s’. Spell out numbers from one to nine, 10 and above to remain in figures. However, for exact measurements use only figures (3 km, 9 per cent not %). Use thousands and millions (e.g., not lakhs and crores).

    11. Single quotes should be used.  Double quotes should only be used within single quotes. Quotations of 45 words or more should be separated from the text and indented with one space with a line space above and below.

    12. The APA Style Manual provides guidelines about headings in the text. While some papers have three level headings, others may have two.

    13. Tables and charts presented in the text should be in black and white only, and must be provided in editable format. They must meet APA guidelines. Wherever necessary, the title should be indicated at the top and sources should be at the bottom. Source for figures and tables should be mentioned irrespective of whether or not they require permissions. They should be serially numbered and this number match with the references to them cited in the text, e.g., (see Table 1), not by placement (see Table below). The tables and figures mentioned in the text should appear near/after they are referred.

    14. All photographs and scanned images should have a resolution of minimum 300 dpi and 1500 pixels and their format should be TIFF or JPEG. Due permissions should be taken for copyright protected photographs/images. Even for photographs/images available in the public domain, it should be clearly ascertained whether or not their reproduction requires permission for purposes of publishing (which is a profit-making endeavor).

    15. References should be given separately at the end of the paper and the entries should be arranged alphabetically. The word ‘References’ should appear as a first-level heading. The list should include only the works the author(s) has cited.

    16. Citations and References

Guidelines specified in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th edition) must be followed.

    • References: A consolidated listing of all books, articles, essays, theses and documents referred to (including any referred to in the tables, graphs and maps) should be provided at the end of the article.

    • Arrangement of references: Reference list entries should be alphabetized by the last name of the first author of each work. In each reference, authors’ names are inverted (last name first) for all authors (first, second or subsequent ones); give the last name and initials for all authors of a particular work unless the work has more than six authors. If the work has more than six authors, list the first six authors and then use et al. after the sixth author’s name.

    • Chronological listing: If more than one work by the same author(s) is cited, they should be listed in order by the year of publication, starting with the earliest.

    • Sentence case: In references, sentence case (only the first word and any proper noun are capitalized – e.g., ‘The software industry in India’) is to be followed for the titles of papers, books, articles, etc.

    • Title case: In references, Journal titles are put in title case (first letter of all words except articles and conjunctions are capitalized – e.g., Journal of Business Ethics).

    • Italicize: Book and Journal titles are to be italicized.

    • Citations and References should adhere to the guidelines below (based on the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition). Some examples are given below:

    In-text citations:

    • One work by one author: (Kessler, 2003, p. 50) or ‘Kessler (2003) found that among  the epidemiological samples..’.
    • One work by two authors: (Joreskog & Sorborn, 2007, pp. 50–66) or Joreskog and Sorborn (2007) found that..
    • One work by three or more authors: (Basu, Banerji & Chatterjee, 2007) [first instance]; Basu et al. (2007) [Second instance onwards].
    • Groups or organizations or universities: (University of Pittsburgh, 2007) or University of Pittsburgh (2007).
    • Authors with same surname: Include the initials in all the in-text citations even if the year of publication differs, e.g., (I. Light, 2006; M.A. Light, 2008).
    • Works with no identified author or anonymous author: Cite the first few words of the reference entry (title) and then the year, e.g., (‘Study finds’, 2007); (Anonymous, 1998).
If abbreviations are provided, then the style to be followed is: (National Institute of Mental Health [NIMH], 2003) in the first citation and (NIMH, 2003) in subsequent citations.
    • Two or more works by same author: (Gogel, 1990, 2006, in press)
    • Two or more works with different authors: (Gogel, 1996; Miller, 1999)
    • Secondary sources: Allport's diary (as cited in Nicholson, 2003).
    • Films: (Name of the Director, Year of release)
